September Sun

How are all of you doing this first week of September? I can tell that the position of sun has shifted a bit, as even in mid afternoon the light has a soft angled feel. I want summer warmth and sun to last as long as possible here, but the approaching feeling of autumn also brings contentment for me each year. September is one of those months I kind of forget to appreciate (maybe for lack of an exciting holiday?) but it really is a nice month! August is hot, and while October may be my favorite month, it is guaranteed chilly nights. September is like summer's last breath.

Well, I didn't win the Nie Nie silent auction item I bid for, but I'm glad I tried! (I held a lead for 2 or 3 days and was outbid in the last hours.) I was vying for this lovely baby blanket sold by the blog say YES! to hoboken.

I love the yellow print. Had I won, I would have given it to my friend Amanda who is going to be having a baby boy this week! :D Conner, her 3 year old (4 years this month!), started preschool this week too, so she's got quite a lot on her plate! I'm praying everything goes smoothly, and I'm bummed that it will probably be Christmas before I get to see the little guy.

Nathan has also started school this week. He wouldn't let me take a first day of school picture, something about not having new school clothes. :P I think he's glad to be heading back, though I'll miss having a buddy in the daylight hours. I might head to the park this afternoon, maybe take a jog and do a little reading n' writing. I wish I had a puppy companion who would stick his nose in the air and enjoy the great outdoors with me. I imagine I'd have a lot of fun with this French Bulldog.

To make an occasion of the last weekend before the new school year, Nathan and I went out for dinner and movie last Friday. We found this great $3 Landmark theatre that mostly does second run shows and saw The Visitor. The ambience reminded me a bit of the Varsity theatre in Des Moines. :) I wish the theatre was closer (it's in Shoreline, about 20 minutes drive skirting the lake) so I could pop in for cheap movies on a regular basis! And, free refills on a large popcorn, perfect for movie-going with friends! Here's a photo from dinner at a Chinese restaurant just before the show. (We love any reason for Chinese food.)

I love those tiny cups. Have a beautiful weekend, see you on the other side.

Love this post! Yellow is becoming one of my favorite colors as well... too bad you didn't get that baby blanket. :(

How exciting for Amanda - I didn't even know she was expecting! You'll have to fill me in on how it all goes!!!

Nice pic of my brother - where's his head?! lol
