Day of Loveliness

Happy Valentine's Day!

This morning my Valentine and I went out for crepes.
(his: nutella+strawberry, mine: parmesan+ spinach+tomato)
It was cute and delicious.

I worked this afternoon and N finished homework.
We reconvened for dinner at home and are about to start watching Chinatown!
I'm so excited. Young Faye Dunaway and Jack Nicholson look so debonair. :)

I hope you all had a lovely day, whether or not you took part in V-day.
We love you!
xoxo

Descending the Mt.

Yippee! The sickness is passing and I am slowly getting back to normal. In fact, Sunday afternoon that Excederin cleared my headache right up, work went smoothly, and I have been feeling better ever since (sorry to worry you with my sick-blogging). I'm still fighting some congestion but can tell I'm in that last phase of the cold. And Nathan has managed to avoid it altogether! That boy has a solid resolve against the sickies.

After a few days of warmth and some brilliant sunshine, we have slumped into winter days again. Cold and rainy. We've been pretty lucky this year (unlike the snowed in East coast) but nonetheless, I think I'm ready for Spring. Ready for the flowers, for the leaves to regrow, to wear t-shirts and take long walks again.

This week has been pretty slim for me...my work hours have been sparse. I have been spending a couple hours each day at my friend's place to take care of her cats (Mueski and Spartan) while she is away...on a cruise, soaking up the Mexican sunshine. (jealous!) It's been nice to have somewhere else to visit, something outside my routine (home, work, grocery store). Plus, I don't mind sticking around because she has tons of tv channels--I'm taking my own little television vacation this week! whee!

And because I have no photos to post, I'll share this cute video...
I love those skinny dorky boys. :)

Diane made a gif of this earlier this week...awesome.

Greetings from Mt. Ill

I am sick, kids. It's a cold but not the kind a bowl of soup and good night's sleep will seem to fix. I'm going on day 4 now, hoping this thing will wear itself out. I turned in last night, about 2 hours earlier than I normally do, with a cough drop and Tylenol PM (that stuff knocks me out). I woke up this morning feeling like someone punched me in the back of the head.

I try to figure out where this came from...a friend at work that has been ill, closing the shop with her Wednesday, the tingling feeling in my sinuses that night...oh crap, the two of us sharing a box of Cheez-its on Monday. My bad.

I am crossing fingers that this Excederin goes to battle with the head pressure and the alternating sudafed dries up some of the gross stuff. Hopefully I can still enjoy (a little bit of) the Super Bowl Sunday snack party my friend has been planning for weeks.

Nathan is sweetly doting on me. Bringing me things, tucking me in at night, decidedly ignoring the heap of used tissues I build up around me wherever I am. He's doing a good job. Whenever I am sick, I still feel like a little kid waiting for Mom to fix me with home cures. The kind of magic moms only dispel.

Off I go to work now. Let's pray it's not Lupus.

Indi + Tenn

This morning at the shelter I found myself surrounded by kittens. Yes, it's as good as it sounds. At some time in a life, hopefully several times, one should find herself in the presence of a full litter of kittens or puppies. It's magic.

This week, my favorites are these two tabbies.
I'm secretly calling them Indiana and Tennessee (after Jones and Williams, respectively). They have other names, but I wasn't sure whom was whom, plus I liked mine better.

Indi is a bit more squirrely (on the right) and Tenn is more of a watcher.
Both are playful and consequently hilarious.
Here they are playing by a carpet teepee.

*sorry, terrible camera phone pic...just try photo'ing playing kittens on any camera!

Here is Tennessee. He is the lighter striped kitty.

These two little loves will be homed quickly. *sigh* Bittersweet.

Hello February

And Happy Groundhog Day!

Oh, Phil, you little Punxatawny prankster--6 more weeks? Really?
It doesn't look like winter in the Northwest today. It rather feels Springy, but I know it's bound to change again as it does. And Phil wouldn't lie, would he? Unless he can only guess so much as Pennsylvania is concerned. Should I get my hopes up?

Happy February to you all!
Nothing so new to report here. My plan of (in)action today was to take advantage of the sun by walking downtown to the coffee shop and nestle into a new book before work at 6:30. However, domestic things and little time wasters happened, and so I will instead read at home, and perhaps brew another cup to keep me alert tonight.

For those of you that also have fly-by-the-seat schedules, how do you make yourself productive in the meantime? Sometimes I rather enjoy the changes in schedule, the free mornings or midweek weekends. But every time I think I have something worked out it changes. Meals are irregular, sleep is aplenty but here and there. Often I feel like I'm just waiting to go into work. And on these days, heading to work when the dusk settles in, I get the yawns. Hm.

Is anyone excited for Valentine's Day?
At the store we have been touting the holiday since New Year. It isn't a big deal to me, but I'm not angry about its mushiness or commercialism either. If people want to hang big hearts in their windows and give out chocolates, I am all the merrier. Any plans?

*Yawn* It's happening already...perhaps a wee nap before I go. ;)
