Friday Tune
I find this video just beautiful and can't stop watching it. Stevie Nicks just has that voice and persona that make me believe her life could consist not of moments but of songs....someone who could sing for her life.
If you could have anyone's vocals, who would it be?
Stevie's on my list, but I'll have to get back to you on my top 5.

The Weekly Cute
I'm not sure you're ready for this week's cute....it's a doozy.
Koda is an 'American miniature' horse who was also born with dwarfism.
It's not easy being a miniature pony with dwarfism...he's undergone several corrective surgeries since birth, but now at 13 months he's living the good life!
....
A pony that I really can keep in the house??!
My dreams ARE coming true!

Everyday Art
I had seen these frames for objects before, but I am really liking them today after seeing them again on Oh Joy! I would especially love the shelf for our bedside. Maybe I'd then remember to read before bedtime?
I'm for intellectual property and supporting makers, but I'm also for borrowing and diy... so maybe it's ok if I make my own homespun version? At least until I'm ready to drop $100 for this lovely porcelain? What is your proudest diy?

The Weekly Cute
After seeing the perfect, quintessential French Bulldog at the dog park on Sunday, my dog longing has set in full force. Needless to say, Frenchies have stolen my heart lately....but Nathan has his heart set on a Basset Hound. What to do?
I tried to to hunt down some photos of a bassett/frenchie mix, but no luck.
However, I did find some other interesting mutts.
(If you find a bassett/frenchie, send it my way!)
*Also, a little gift with this week's cute:
I have added a new sidebar widget, The Daily Puppy!

You're Invited
One more reason I'm super excited for our trip to Iowa: a birthday party for Mom!
As promised, here is a photo of the finished invitation.
I got all of the components at Paper Source and printed them at my friend's house. Nathan helped me assemble them. He's quite careful and dexterous, a perfect assistant assembler. ;) Chances are, if you read this blog you are invited, unless I have some unknown readership (which I suppose would be kind of neat and very unexpected). Sorry for the poor documentation...I only get decent camera light in our apartment if I stand next to the window. Also in this photo: my 'no nonsense' socks, yoga mat and laptop charger. woot.
Hooray Mama! See you soon. :)

Sweet Thing
This ring by Monique van Bruggen (found over at style-files) is the sweetest. I don't know why, but I'm a sucker for buttons.
I meant to blog a little more today but fell into a slumbering kind of stupor...(I think I've been eating too much sugar lately. I know this makes people sugar-hyper, but I'm past that, on to sluggishness). shame shame. I've also agreed to take a co-worker's shift tonight, so more blogging tomorrow perhaps. *Including, a look at the finished pile of mom's birthday invites!
Condensed noteworthy bits:
-John Hughes died yesterday. Sad. But we'll always have Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller, and all his gems.
-On a John Hughes goose chase, I discovered this awesome 80s band. Can you find the film connection?
-Also yesterday: the 64th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Some thoughtful words and history on this nice blog.
-I look forward to Joanna Goddard's weekly best of the webs 'short-list' every Friday.

The Weekly Cute
After that week of record breaking heat, we are now going to bed and waking up to 59 degrees. Crazy, huh? Today everything is back to normal, normal being temperate to chilly and overcast. I wouldn't object to a snuggle on this chilly, gray morning. I bet koalas are good snugglers.
I can't think of koalas without remembering Mitch Hedberg's koala bit (thanks to Nathan):
"My apartment is infested with koala bears. It’s the cutest infestation ever. Way better than cockroaches. When I turn on the light, a bunch of koala bears scatter, but I don’t want them too. I’m like, “Hey… Hold on fellows… Let me hold one of you, and feed you a leaf.”
I want a koala infestation!

Lemons into Lemonade
One of my favorite sites is 1001 rules for my unborn son. His aesthetic is fantastic and most of his advice seems very sound. Simple and firm, small doses of wisdom. What a good idea! If I compiled a similar list, I would include:
Saturday I visited a friend's yard sale to say hello, and on the way home bought some lemonade from a couple boys with a corner stand. It took me just a minute's pause to stop the car, fish 50 cents from my wallet and make the exchange. I got a few sweet, cool sips on the drive home, and the nervous-excited look on the boys' faces was worth it. (Even if I'm not an example, I've got a dad that taught me the value of youth entrepreneurship.)
Stop for lemonade stands.
